Matrix client for Android, based on Element Classic
Voyage is a Matrix client for Android, based on Element Classic. Many improvements to feature set and performance have been made on top of the now-sunsetted Element Classic.
Make it yours
• Custom emoji and stickers with image packs: build your own, share them in rooms, import and export them as zips, and import Telegram sticker packs
• Lots of themes, including SchildiChat's light, dark and black themes, optional message bubbles and dozens of accent colors
• Avatar shapes (some of them animated), name color palettes, custom emoji fonts and scrolling animations
Messaging
• Translate messages, both the ones you receive and the ones you send
• Forward to many rooms at once, pin messages, browse your mentions, and fix typos with s/old/new/
• Search your history, encrypted rooms included, with filters for sender, media type and date
• Send several photos and videos as one gallery, and crop, trim, draw on, censor or speed up media before it goes out
• Rich formatting: tables, spoilers, greentext, sub/superscript and more
Rooms and people
• Preview public rooms before you join, or watch them without ever joining
• Keep the history of rooms you were kicked or banned from
• Profiles with pronouns, time zone, status, bio and banner, plus private notes and personal nicknames for anyone
• Several accounts in one app, and homeserver mirrors as fallbacks
Privacy
• No telemetry, no analytics and no Google services
• Strip location and other metadata from photos and videos before upload
• Minimal or custom User-Agent, private read receipts, and link previews that work in encrypted rooms
• Optional VPN protection that blocks network activity while your VPN is off
Runs on old phones
Voyage supports Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and newer.
Network connections
Out of the box, Voyage talks to your homeserver (matrix.org unless you choose another) and to the UnifiedPush gateway at matrix.gateway.unifiedpush.org. When you send a link in an encrypted room, your device fetches its preview from that website, but this may be turned off.
These optional features contact other services only when you use them:
• Translation through Google Translate, or through Microsoft, DeepL, DeepSeek or an OpenAI-compatible service with your own API key
• On-device translation downloads Meta's NLLB-200 model (about 1 GB) from GitHub and a language detection model from Facebook. The NLLB-200 weights are licensed CC-BY-NC-4.0 (non-commercial) and are not included in the app.
• Telegram sticker import uses the Telegram Bot API (api.telegram.org)
• User-Agent customisation can fetch version data from Google, GitHub, Mozilla, StatCounter and ipsw.me
• Location sharing loads maps from MapTiler
• The integration manager for widgets and bots defaults to scalar.vector.im
